FAQ
Is this just for Windows?
For the time being, yes, Myrlin is only available on Windows. After the release of V2, I will revisit the question of porting the program to Mac or Linux, but I need to get all the kinks worked out first and also be able to afford a MacBook.
Are you going to ask me for more money?
Myrlin is not a subscription and never will be. Buying Myrlin means you own a copy of the program, and any future updates will be available for you from that purchase. I want to make this app as accessible as possible, which is why the Early Release (V1) is priced under $15. The price of V2 will be higher, but still a fraction of the cost of similar programs. If you want to give me more money, you certainly can. Just click Support Development. You can become a backer to get access to updates/side projects before official release on the app store.
Is there a limit to how many books I can format and Export?
No. Myrlin lives on your computer after you buy it. The engine that creates exports is at your disposal.
Can I create both EPUB and Print books with Myrlin?
You can export books in both EPUB and PDF formats. You can also save your work as txt, md, and docx. Some of the formatting in Myrlin won't carry over to docx, and txt and md files are flattened according to the limits of those file types. The previewer for EPUB and PDF are meant to be as "what you see is what you get" as possible, keeping in mind that EPUB readers will do their own thing in regards to reader choices for font, line spacing, margins and so on.
Where are the docs and walkthroughs?
I am in the process of building out documentation and how-to content to be added to this site. Tips and tutorial videos will also soon be available on Youtube. If you don't see an answer here for a question you have, feel free to reach out via the contact form on the Home page.
What's with all the Open Source credits? Is this program Open Source?
Myrlin is not Open Source, but it would not exist as it is without the contributions of Open Source projects and assets. You can find all the credits and links to those projects in the Settings view of the app.
